Ten days should be about enough. Now the law will take its course. Not justice - law. I've been told by enough lawyers that when you go to court you don't get justice - you get law. If justice results that is good but it often doesn't. How close to or far from the truth Frank Herbert was I have no idea:

"'Law is the ultimate science,'" Paul quoted. "Thus it reads above the Emperor's door. I propose to show him law."

Dune
Someone suggested that the statement is an indicator of a corrupt and Byzantine society. I hadn't thought of it that way but the Empire in the Dune universe was certainly corrupt and Byzantine. So is the United States and most of the developed world. If you want to go down that rabbit hole you can compare the Baron Harkonnen and Jeffery Epstein. Epstein being only one of many and perhaps not even the biggest - just the biggest one caught so far.

Anyway the case is not in the hands of the law and there the untimate disposition will be made. To those purists it cannot possibly end well because the only just result will be the execution of a death sentence upon the murderer. And that will not happen no matter how much some want it to, or it should:

Texas apparently won't seek the death penalty and it's not hard to see why. And while the a federal case (hate crime, violation of civil rights) can be made a federal prosecutor would not seek the appropriate penalty either. Putting to death a person who was not an adult would look bad. I'd go for life without the possibility of parole even knowing that a future Democrat president would probably pardon him. The best we can hope for is that the state will put him away for as close to forever as is possible.

I agree and would be satisfied if the little monster could be locked up forever. But it is only one of many little monsters. Younger monsters as young as ten years old regularly kill people while committing crimes that seem to have no purpose but gratification of the desire of the moment. In this case a young man with a promising future was killed by a piece of human debris. There is no other way to describe it. The victim at the very least would have - going with 90% probability here - lived a live useful to not only himself but others. He would had a job, paid a lot of taxes for the next forty or so years if nothing else and possibly done much more. The killer had done nothing useful to society and even if he doesn't spend most of what remains of his life in prison is unlikely to contribute anything useful to society including his own upkeep.

At this point I can only envision - as a reasonably quick solution - making me dictator. Absolute power for ten years - not that I even want to think about doing it for half that long but here we go:

I can do anything I please and have the resources to make it happen - law enforcement and military. I am the law and have the power to be the law. I decree that no person shall be supported at the expense of another person. Humane support will be available from the government for those who can demonstrate need and the inability to survive independently. Physically and mentally disabled people (this includes people beyond working age) will be cared for in institutions unless they have family or friends who prefer to assume that responsibility. Insane people will be locked up as humanely as possible. Children without family will be cared fo until age eighteen in facilities that provide education. Criminals will of course be incarcerated.

There would be no welfare of any kind. No food stamps, no housing, no medical care. For those unwilling to find a way to survive communal housing will be available. Women with young children will be housed in suitable facilities, single men and women in dormitories. Communal dining will be available and medical care provided. If they want more they will have to go out into the world and work for it. If not they have a safe and comfortable life in the facility and can stay as long as they wish.

This will reduce government spending by a trillion or so a year but more importantly will remove the pool of such creatures as this. When you take a poor uneducated uncultured woman and give her an apartment and food and the apartment becomes a lair for thugs who repeatedly impregnate her and produce children she is not able to care for beyond feeding them and as soon as they are able (as ages as young as 10) to roam the streets in gangs and commit violence upon any unfortunate person they happen to meet.

But treating people thus strips them of their human dignity, the bloody-handed Democrats say. What fuckin' dignity do these people have now? Forced to behave in a nominally civilized fashion at least some of them will make something of their lives - left as they are they will only produce more parasites and some of those parasites are lethal on the first bite. Apologies for the bad language. Democrats despise poor people and see them as nothing more than a power source - voters - put them in power and keep them there. They have created that pool of voters by selectively breeding the most worthless specimens. Unfortunately some of them are barely human and are lethally dangerous to normal people.

The police cannot protect the citizen at this stage of our development, and they cannot even protect themselves in many cases. It is up to the private citizen to protect himself and his family, and this is not only acceptable, but mandatory. Jeff Cooper
